Purdue in space
Purdue graduates have played a key role in space exploration. Twenty-three Boilermakers have gone on to become astronauts sent on space missions. Both Neil Armstrong and Eugene Cernan, the first and last men on the moon respectively, have graduated from Purdue University (Purdue University, 2014). Not only have many Boilermakers gone on to become astronauts, but Purdue also has had a significant role in space exploration programs over the past decades (Dowd, 2013).
